From baby room to nursery. Week one of Charlotte’s room makeover

Design Time!

I have a very decisive client this ORC season. You can view the design consultation below, otherwise read on to see what we have planned.

I’m excited to announce that I will once again be participating in the One Room Challenge. This time around, I have a special project to share with you.  

If you’re new to the One Room Challenge, it’s all in the name. It certainly is a challenge but one that will help you get that room finished and be inspired by other like-minded DIY’ers who share a passion for creating a home filled with love and beauty. 

This ORC will be emotional for me. I have 3 babies under 5 and will be renovating all of their rooms but chose to showcase Charlottes as this will be the first room I have specifically designed for her. She was born amidst covid and as we were planning an international move we didn’t get the chance to decorate her nursery. 

Although it’s taken us a long time to get here, we started renovating over 2 years ago. You can see more about our journey here. 

So what can you expect this season?? 

• Lots of pink, it’s my baby’s favourite colour 
• Lots of tears – coming from mummy as I’m finding so much joy in designing their rooms and I’m finding myself crying from joy and relief (that we have finally started on their rooms) every time I find myself wandering around the extension.

They grow up so fast and I really want to create some beautiful memories for them in a room filled with magic.

I’m fairly decisive in nature however, when you’re designing your own home, it can be difficult to pin down finishes and design choices as there’s so much emotion involved, so I’m excited to be forced to make decisions and progress through the process and finish her room in 8 weeks.

Let’s begin with the design.

We are moving from a nursery to a big girl room, she will be 3 on 26th May (how special is that as it’s reveal week). OK I’m crying already 🤦🏼‍♀️

In preparation for the next few weeks, we have been working hard to get her space to resemble a room. Towards the end of last year, we framed and insulated the rooms.

And I couldn’t resist leaving a love letter for them on each of their walls.

After a very thorough design consultation with my new client, Charlotte, she made it clear what she wanted 

• Pink was to be the main colour
• She wants a new wardrobe including hangers and drawers
• She likes the idea of bunnies
• She would like a home for her fairies 
• She likes flowers

This week we have finished the sheets on the wall and have laid the flooring. We still have a long way to go and this is a rough guide of what we plan to share over the coming weeks.
