Welcome to Okaloosa, this project, like many of ours found us. We had actually looked at the house next door, it was a small cottage however it gave me the heebie jeebies – haver you ever been in a house like that? I’m talking like bad mojo, ghostalike scary stuff…..
It’s funny how things work out, the seller of the….let’s call it the Haunted house…. called us that evening to let us know that she heard that her neighbours were selling also and thought we may be interested. Well we were, so the next day we knocked on their door and sealed the deal. They were days away from signing with an agent so thankfully we were able to secure it of market. They didn’t really want the hassle of listing and showing the house they just want it sold.
They had lived there all their lives, the man had grown up in the house and the day of closing they literally walked out of the house…..and left it filled to the brim with ‘stuff.’ So rather than spending time and money on clearing the house we called a few second hand dealers – they clear out the house and keep whatever they find.
This is the house we bought, it was an amazing opportunity as the yard backed onto the street behind allowing us to split the lot and building on the back.
So here is the flipped house. Like most fixers it was a hodge podge of add ons and poor workmanship so we changed the layout to transform this home from a 3 bed 1 bathroom to a 3 bed 2 bathrooms with an open plan, new pantry and a laundry. We did not add onto the house, we used the same square footage, it’s incredible how a house can be transformed with the right floorplan
And then like I mentioned we had an opportunity to build on the back half of the lot and this is how it turned out.
What else has been going on?
