Hello week 6! Can you believe it? I can’t! There is SOOOO much going on I feel like my head is spinning, but I’m very excited by all of the progress.
I worked on the doors for the pantry this week and oh my goodness am I in love. So as you know from week 1 the house is a Queenslander and we believe that it is was built early 1920’s based on the architecture and features of the house and we have found a couple of old maps from that time.
There are a lot of original features in the house and we wanted to ensure the pantry doors felt like one of the many architectual nods to the era of the house with a modern twist. What do you think?
So what did we do with them? We sanded them back, filled the holes then painted them this lovely soft blue / gray.
I love a little distressing so we roughed them up a little – an old house doesn’t need to be perfect…..You can see more below.
Refurbing the doors
Tiling the Kitchen wet area
The BEST part about working on my parents house?! The Coffee breaks of course
What else has been going on?
Aside from my parents project as you know we are ‘waiting’ to renovate our house. We are at a bit of a standstill as we need to raise it before we can start doing any actual work otherwise it can result in cracking of tiles, shifting of windows and cracking caulk.
But we are living in the house as we renovate so a BIG tip is to get some storage – I wish I had have thought about that when we first started renovating as we lived in the first 2 houses and basically tripped over our belongings, materials and everything else in a house. But as you know experience helps to bring new perspectives.
